Scientific Activities

Within the CAL/VAL project, sea surface salinity  originating from SMOS data are to compared to salinity from in situ data (originating in surface drifters, launched in two areas of special interest, and the global fleet of Argo floats), as well as to climatological salinity. An oceanographic general circulation model helps to understand the salinity variability in the Atlantic and to derive scales for averaging the SMOS  salinity data.
